The Quarterbacks are Finally Understanding the Importance of LIMITING Interceptions

August 13, 2011

Al Golden seemed pleased with the scrimmage that the team held at Greentree Field in Miami on Sunday.  Freshman linebacker Jimmy Gaines had the lone interception of the day and Golden would not comment on who threw the pick (odds are it was Harris as the pick was thrown during the first half).   Hey, we will take one interception considering last year's opposing corner backs caught the ball more than our own receivers.  Golden also mentioned that he was happy about how the team performed in the red-zone, as well as the tackling.  Tackling must be addressed--WRAP UP!  The defense began to lose steam during the second half which affected tackling, something Golden says he plans on fixing.  Judging by Golden's demeanor, I have no doubt this will be corrected.
The quarterbacks combined for 38 of 52, throwing for 407 yards, 6 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Wide Receiver Tommy Streeter appeared to be the player who stepped up the most catching 3 touchdown passes, 2 from senior quarterback Jacory Harris.  I have been saying for a while that I think Streeter has what it takes to be that go to receiver.  He has the height and the athleticism to be the next Hankerson.
